  • Ohfg thank you for telling people to pull the fill plug first i pulled the drain plug on my 90 chevy and reluzed i needed a diffrent size tool aswell as it was siezed took a month to get fluids back into her with the tool order and the hassel.was a pain .

  • When you put an upgraded oil pump it increases pressure but it also increases flow hence high volume oil pump. They can flow so much oil that it can contribute to it drying out the sump. You should really look into getting an enlarged oil sump such as the rips racing oil pan extension

  • One point you didn't mention at the flywheel. Some engines are externally balanced, so it is a good idea to mark the flywheel bolt hole to crank bolt hole. If you don't plan to reuse the crank, this is less important. You should also check the turbo for signs of oil starvation in this specific case as the bearing would seem to indicate an oiling issue.

  • Man, that sounded like classic spun bearing but I didn't want to jinx it in the last vid. Did the same to the family Impala last year not a week after it came out of the shop with $1500 in repairs. Went back to complain and the MF'ing shop was shuttered. Go figure... Same car with a seized engine was later donated to a Cars for Kids program incidentally.

  • Nice description of how to use a bore gauge. Following the block through the machine shop process would be awesome. A lot of people throw around machining operation terms, but haven't seen the processes involved. For checking warpage, you need to run your straight edge in several different planes. Straight across the bores like that doesn't tell the whole story.

  • Rb engines don’t breathe. That’s what fills the head up with oil. The oil drains can’t work with crankcase pressure in them. Need two breathers in the sump (a large sump at that) above the oil level.

  • Hey keeping the cams and crank on the table like that can cause them to sag if left for long amounts of time. A good habit is to stand the on their side to prevent warpage/sag.
