  • The best car on that list is the 4th gen novas, they are a 3rd gen body with new exterior sheet metal, they use 2nd gen camaro front suspension and 1st gen camaro/3rd gen nova rear suspension. The 3rd gen front end and doors will bolt to a 4th gen if you swap the subframe in with it.

  • The duster isn't smaller than a valiant, they're both A bodies. They're both sweeeet! The Monte Carlo - the G bodies ... those are SWEET! The El Caminos are friggin ... insane prices if you can find one. We had an 87 that got stolen, stripped, and recovered - TWICE. And people DO like those driving costs up a bit, but Ford Rancheros get overlooked a lot unless I'm missing something. I have had that EXACT thing from Sonic many times, but the 3rd gen camaro is friggin heavy, had a sucky rear suspension, and the engine bays were getting as hard to stuff things in as a vette. I DO like them though - and don't forget the 3rd gen Firebirds, they had a cooler looking front clip. The Mercedes - ya, but ... they're COSTLY to repair and impossible to upgrade. Might as well get an older S600 with the v12. Neither are muscle cars though, and neither is that Dodge Magnum R/T. The MUSTANG however, is a pony car, AND a muscle car. Think of the Mach 1 - big block? CHECK! Gigantic american iron? CHECK! It was bigger and heavier than an A body Chrysler ffs! Also, the Mustang is my FAVORITE car of the bunch - but only some of them. 1st gens - that goes up to 73, and they started getting too big for me starting in 69. I like the early 1st gens, later 1st gens were OK but not my cup of tea - more "muscle" than "pony" though - the mustang II (2nd gen) looked awful, and were underpowered, but they got small again - the Pinto chassis. Then the Fox bodies (I have one now) those are AWESOME cars in a lot of ways, and are getting into classic status now, but they can be had. They had a factory triangulated 4 link (which can bind, but doesn't need a panhard), 8.8 rear end, strut front suspension ... and a lot of parts interchangability with the 4th gen SN95's - which is what I'm doing now. Take a fox body, and put 94-95 front spindles, brakes, and control arms, an 8.8 out of a 94-98 and put Fox length axles in it - and you have 4 wheel disc brakes, 5 lug wheels ... and if you get a car pre "side impact" (I forget the years mines an 88) they're SUPER light. The 5.0L block can't do much more than 500hp before the blocks split down the lifter valleys, but you CAN put a 5.8 in there as a drop in replacement and push them up to 700+, OR put a 385 series big block (or maybe an FE if you're daring?) ... dare I say ... LS swap it :D

  • Overlooked the late b-body Mopars (Cordoba/Charger/Magnum/Fury). Still can be had pretty cheap, came with a 400 cid big block until 78, responds to mods well. Not as cheap as a sb chevy, parts-wise, but still doable on a budget.

  • How about the first gen Falcon, Falcon Ranchero, and Mercury Comet? Everything said about the first gen Mustang in this video in terms of parts availability also applies to them. Mechanically, they’re all the same car. If you want something that’s as affordable and easy to build as a Mustang but won’t get lost in the crowd like one, take a look at those. With the Falcons, you can even install a sweet Frontenac grill to keep them guessing. If you can only find a four banger or straight six, you can put a Coyote in any of them, or find an older Modular engine for next to nothing at a junkyard. You cannot lose.

  • Full sized cars are not technically muscle cars. Just because it is powerful and fast does not make it a muscle car. A muscle car is technically a mid sized car with a huge powerful engine. That is why the first muscle car was the GTO based on Pontiac’s mis sized tempest. There were, outs of fast and powerful cars before the GTO, but none of them were midsized.

  • I had, for a short period of time, a 1967 Plymouth Fury III with a 383 and posi traction, 4 door hard top in 1994! But unfortunately, I was never in a position to restore nor have a safe place to keep it at that time of my life, so I parted with it! I loved the Plymouth Product and I was saddened to see it gone! Now I am almost 60 years of age and I may never get another, but my mother had a 1968 Convertible with a 318 and to me, even as a child, was 1 of the most Beautiful ❤️ Cars I had ever seen! Still IS!!!
