  • Upstate NY here. I used to tow for a living and have seen thousands of cars only 5 years old with the reinforced tow slots on the frame completely rotted out Ps: also here waiting for the up to speed on James’s dad

  • When I travelled to United States back 2016, arrived in Los Angeles, rented a Dodge charger and found the fuel cost in California is cheap! Compare to what I saw in Australia and China, similar price but it's gallon instead of litre. Until I travelled to Dallas, I can't believe fuel price in TX, it's unbelievably cheap!

  • I live in Los angeles, but went to Phoenix AZ to buy my car. After a lot of numbers reserch from dealers here I ended up saving over 10K in initial price. It was worth the $60 plane ticket to Phoenix. It was easier than I thought. Besides the dealers know how to process taxes for California because they get lots of out of state buyers

  • I think inland Texas is best for cars. Lots of inventory and no rust. When I moved from there to Mississippi Gulf Coast, my car started rusting immediately. A bad thing about Texas is all the rubber and interior gets baked. Paint has a tough time there too. Dallas is known for hail storms too. Scratch that. Maybe Texas isn’t that great for cars.

  • IMO Oregon is the best state to buy a used car. You mentioned the southwest states like Arizona and Nevada for condition, well, most of western Oregon (the populated part of the state) has pretty good weather year-round. Sure, there's rain, but without road salt the cars stay mostly rust free. And unless you're living in the mountains you won't see a ton of snow throughout winter. The sun won't peel back your dashboard or destroy your car's finish. Add to that the no sales tax thing and high amount of classic and collectible survivors and you have my winner. No, I'm not a homer; I'm from WA state, where taxes and yearly registration fees are ridiculously high.
