  • Sierra Cosworth saloon was the Geordie ramraiders preferred getaway car. Option A; Drive something old and/or heavy through the front window of your favourite electrical retailer/jewellers/sportswear shop nab what you can, load it into the 'Cossie' and be offski before the local plod can respond. Opt B Use the Cossie to pull as much heat onto the motorway (It's the late 80's/ early 90's police helicopters are 1 rare and 2 expensive) away from the city centres or retail parks and use a nice anonymous stolen white van as both ram and getaway vehicle. No matter which option you choose the cossie is getting torched at the end.

  • Yeah, the Holden V8 was not a big block. It’s a small block engine that came in either 253cid or 308cid. There was a later version at 304cid which was made for Group C 5.0L rules. That version replaced the 308 and eventually got EFI and was used until the LS1 began being used in the late 90’s.

    xTHExWASPxxTHExWASPx7 giorni fa
  • The Chevy Montana is sold in South Africa too, albeit with a different looking front. It started as an Opel Corsa "bakkie", then it got an uplift, then it got a Chevy badge as Chevy Corsa, then it was changed to look like the Montana in your video. However, while popular the Nissan NP100 (Dacia-based) is way more popular.

  • Are you sure South Africa sold the Chevy Calibra? I'm here and never saw one branded as a Chevy. A few as Opel, a couple (maybe imported) as Vauxhall but never as a Chevy.

Pastoor Anderson In Het NederlandsPastoor Anderson In Het Nederlands7 giorni fa
  • Well done for picking the xy gtho. Although it's is widely believed to be more around the 350-380 hp mark. Ford did quote 300hp. But that was to get the government off their back at the time. The next generation of muscle cars were scrapped. Because the government said they wouldn't buy cars from manufacturers that made high powered cars. So all three companies toned down their road cars. Then emissions laws came in the mid 70s. By the early 80s the cars were slow and lame. The once mighty 351 produced only 200 hp.

  • I have to say I love the look of the montana, definitely similar to a 2012 Holden Colorado with the curves etc, since its based off of a hatchback it certainly is a ute, although with front wheel drive its essentially a Jumbuck...Which means its the last of the utes. Kind of painful to know that us Australians went down swinging by building 2 of the greatest v8 utes (holden/hsv and ford) only to have Chevy continue building utes elsewhere.

    LCaddy StudiosLCaddy Studios7 giorni fa
  • The montana is considered a small pickup here in Brazil, where a Fiat Toro is medium, and a ford ranger is a "full size" truck. We don't really get much of american "full size", so we basically ignore those in the size mesurements.

Over the yrs Ford offered a wide variety from mild to wild.Ford did similar here in the states with Gran Torino's but only from 68 thru 72. Outside of the F150 and possible the mustang the ford Falcon Aussie edition was one of the longest running and successful platforms Ford ever produced!!

  • There's a couple in our car club, he's from here in the US, she's an Aussie ex pat, that shipped over her dad's Falcon Ute, a 74, and her mom's Valiant Charger, 15 years ago, after they passed on. Not something they daily, but they don't just sit either. We were able to borrow the VC, for our daughter's wedding, last October, and that's what they drove to the reception.

    kevin foxkevin fox8 giorni fa
    • @LCaddy Studios Nice.

      kevin foxkevin fox7 giorni fa
    • @kevin fox haha yeah, without a doubt year 12 formal is the main event for the VC community, followed by weddings. They’re a great car which are obviously still popular today, every man and his dog used to own them when they first came out and only the lucky or smart ones hung onto them, my dad has two friends who are brothers, one of them got their parents VC as a wedding present and the other brother got the money to buy another VC and restore it for his.

      LCaddy StudiosLCaddy Studios7 giorni fa
    • @LCaddy Studios Makes sense. I always kind of wondered if there was something more to them letting us use it, for the kids' wedding. I know that her mom and dad loaned it to them for their wedding, and that she came home from the hospital in, after she was born. Her older sister came home in the Fakcon ute, and the VC was bought used, when mom was pregnant with her. Yes, we've had more than a few conversations about both vehicles with them. Have also traveled with them to Brisbane a few times, to visit with friends and family down there. Including for her brother's wedding, to a friend of mine, that I knew from dad's time in the marine corps.

  • The Mexi Ramcharger is fullsize, it is 1/2 ton pickup front. NOT a Durango. On the South African Chevy Firenza. A. There is no such thing as a Holden big block. B. Production specials got the 1969 camaro DZ302 Chevy smallblocks because it was a high revving motor that couldnt pass emissions in the US in 1973 so the NOS motors GM had in stock went overseas. Lastly the calibra? No mention of the Chevy Opala in Brazil? Or for Ford? You pick that Escort over the awd Escort Cosworth? Or even the Escort RS200? What about all the odd ball GM n Ford trucks in Brazil?

  • Mmmmm ... You're talking about the Chrysler Valiant Charger ... but mostly showing a Pacer sedan???. And although the 300+ E55's did have a 340ci small block ... it was hooked up to 727 torque flight a crappy rear diff ratio with a small carburettor, stock exhaust manifolds connecting into a single unit ... No ... The REAL Charger was the E38/E49 265 hemi straight 6 - twin system with headers from factory with triple twin barrel side draught carburettors ... 3 on the floor for the E38, 4 on the floor for the upgraded E49 ... until the nissan R32 Skyline showed up in 1989 it held the record for the fastest production car across the standing Qtr mile (14.2) nudging out the Ford Falcon XY GTHO by a half sec ... there are rumours that the E55 was supposed to be the beginning of the next iteration ... Chryslers 1st V8 ... and with a little bit of swank to add to the normally spartan interior of their vehicles ... As for the small pick up ... not really ... I mean TECHNICALLY you could call it a ute ... but most would rather have a V8 or Barra Falcon ... or a V8 SS Holden :)
