Thanks to Hyundai and the 2021 Veloster N for sponsoring today’s episode. We really like this car and know you will as well! To learn more about why the the 2021 Veloster N is so much fun, click here:

Find out more about the Veloster N, with its N 6-Speed Manual and 8-Speed Wet Dual-Clutch Transmission (the N DCT).
This week on Money Pit, we’re replacing the stock rubber differential bushings with a set of much stiffer polyurethane bushings. They should make the rear of the car feel much tighter when launching and shifting, but will they be worth the added noise vibration and harshness?
We have a new channel!
Money Pit is where you get to learn about cars as we work on them. Each ep we’ll breakdown how each component works and then we’ll upgrade it. Join us in our journey to build cool cars, learn about them, and drive the crap out of them!
Some of our best videos ever are coming out soon, stay tuned so you won't miss a thing!

  • Well only changing diff mount bushings you wont notice a big nvh difference. The big reason is all the rubber bushings still being used in the car. Personally I would also do engine and transmission bushings with polyurethane. Will be a good pre-turbo upgrade to help getting the most power to the pavement.

  • I need to replace the engine mounts in my Maxima and I guess the stock rubber ones kind of suck. There's lots of people complaining about them breaking pretty quickly. I thought maybe I would put in polyurethane just so I don't have to worry about it happening again. Idk I'm not going to keep the car all that long I just hate using bad parts. I bought a beat up Maxima I'm fixing and selling so I won't have the car all that long. The difference in price is only about 10 bucks and it'll save then next guy a headache I'm sure. I just don't want the car vibrating or squatting a bunch from the bushings being to firm.

  • Quick & easy way to make these stock mounts stiffer: clean up the rubber bushing and fill the voids with 3M Window Weld. It's about $25 for a tube. Have done this for motor mounts, makes them quite a bit stiffer.

  • replaced bushings on my Lexus IS 300 fsport lower control arm. Original bushing was soft for comfort but tires lasted 23k miles. new bushing makes car little stiffer. handles turns better and tires doing alot better. at 25k miles on them now.

  • Hey Zach, can I ask for a big favor? I have a 240sx too, a 96 though so zenki. Im really apprehensive about working on my car if not 100% confident that I can complete the job. I'd hate to have removed all my wheel, knuckle, suspension arms, axle if needed(?) all the way into the subframe for a bolt check and then have something go wrong going back together. Do you think you could do a detailed tear down of our suspension? Highlighting each arm, usage and proper adjustments? I understand it'd be a bit of an indepth process and tedious but it'd make me so much more comfortable in my knowledge of my rear suspension and subframe. I'm also a local of SoCal. With a working driving 240 lol so perhaps we could even get in touch and instead of you doing all this work yourself to your im sure sorted kouki, we can organize something to bring out exactly what I have and get my hands dirty. Thanks.
